Things To Know Before You Go To Adelaide

G’day Travelers! For today’s blog post I thought I’d put together a handy list of things to know before you go to Adelaide. This isn’t a list of things to do, more just tips that first timers to the city might find handy when they arrive.

Getting To The City From The Airport

There are a few ways to get to the city from the airport, but the cheapest and in my opinion the easiest is to catch the public bus. There is a bus service from the airport to either heart of the city or Glenelg. If you can’t find the bus there is a tourist information desk inside the airport that will point you in the right direction. For more information and options for getting to and from Adelaide airport visit Adelaide Airports website –

Getting Around The City

Adelaide has a single tram line that runs from the beach at Glenelg to straight through the middle of the city to the Entertainment Precinct in the northern part of the city. At the time of writing this, the trams can be used for free between the North Terrace and South Terrace making it a really simple and convenient option for getting up and down the city.

Otherwise the city itself is pretty small and it’s flat, so walking around is really easy option. Between the tram line and walking there really isn’t a need for any other transport option within the CBD.

Getting Beyond The City

For less than $10 (at the time of writing this) the Adelaide Metro offers a Daytrip ticket that’ll let you use busses, trams, and trains to get anywhere within the Metro network and back in a day. Daytrip tickets are easy to purchase at any ticket machine on the network.  For more information about the public transport system in Adelaide, visit the Adelaide Metro website –

Where To Find Food

Finding food in Adelaide is pretty easy to do, there are pubs and cafes on just about every corner. But if you are looking for a variety of options (including supermarkets, sit down restaurants and take-aways) in a small area then heading to either Rundle Street Mall or Gouger Street is your best bet.

Where To Stay?

There is a good variety of accommodation options in and around Adelaide. There is a good concentration of hotels to cater to a variety of budgets in the center of the CBD. With a lot of the hotels centrally located it makes really straight forward to walk to most of the cities key attractions. Here’s just some of the accommodation options within Adelaide.
